Top 10 Orange Haired Anime Girls

I'm back guys with another Top Ten post. Orange is a rare but enjoyable hair color that we don't see often in anime but when we do, it does not disappoint. Today I want to give you all my top 10 favorite orange haired cuties! If you guys like this post then consider following the blog or check out my YouTube channel, GiraffePants Anime! Let's get started then!

10. Marika Tachibana

Starting off this countdown is Marika Tachibana from the popular romcom, Nisekoi. Marika is very much the kind of girl who cares for impressions. She loves being fashionable and keeping up the image that she's 'princess' like but that's not why I love her. No, I love her for who she really is! She's actually a country hick who's embarrassed by her accent. She's actually very nice even is she hides it with her prideful nature and up front personality. The fact that she tries to be perfect even though she isn't is pretty relatable. You can more or less understand what she's feeling because many times, we're like that too. She had a layer of depth that isn't hard to understand so you grow to like her. She also happens to be a frail girl; not able to do much physically (and for some reason that makes my heart squeeze) but does her best to keep up with everyone which is admirable in a way. She is I guess, a secret sweetheart and that's enough to get her at the #10 spot.

09. Rin Hoshizora

At #9 in the countdown is Rin Hoshizora from Love Live! Rin makes it onto the list for being quite the enthusiastic ball of energy. You know how there are people that are very energetic but not annoying; yeah, that's Rin right there. Rin has a wonderful atmosphere about her and you can't help but smile when you see her. She keeps a positive mentality and works hard so in a way she's like Honoka but better (did I piss anyone off because that was my intention). She's also a bit of a tomboy and I love tomboys! Tomboys make the world go round! Add that with fact that she's also a bit of a neko girl and hot diggity do we have a contender! I love it when she does her little cat face; It's so fucking cute sometimes I melt! Sure, she may not be the most shapely girl but that doesn't matter when you have a lovely personality. Rin hits up the list at #9 for that exact reason and deserves it too!

08. Erina Nakiri

Next on the list is Erina Nakiri  from Shokgeki no Soma! Ah Erina, she isn't everybody's favorite girl from the show but she still is a great girl. I know that it is debatable whether her hair actually qualifies as orange but for the sake of keeping the peace, I consider it in the orange family. Erina makes it on the list mainly for 3 reasons! The most shallow of these reasons is because well... she's freaking hot (but isn't every anime girl hot)! Despite only being like 16, she has a body that could be termed 'daaaaaaaamn!' The second reason is (like most girls from this show) she can cook! She happens to be the best cook at the academy so yeah, getting to eat her food must be a major plus!!! I still don't know why I like girls who can cook (it must be a primal thing). Lastly, the third reason why I like her so much is that she's a tsundere that I like. I'm not the biggest fan of tsunderes but she's an exception for sure. For these simple reasons, Erina land at #8.

07. Chiho Sasaki

At #7 on the list is Chiho Sasaki from The Devil's a Part Timer. Chiho is and adorable ball of laughter. She is definitely one of the more funny girls on this list. She can be very eccentric and is quick to jump to conclusions! It is hilarious to see her act without thinking and she made the show really great! She makes the greatest facial features and says the craziest things sometimes, I can't stop laughing because of her (which is a good thing)! The best way to a man's heart is through his stomach (but that doesn't apply here at all) so the next best thing is through laughter! A girl that can make me laugh gets waifu points all the time! It doesn't hurt that she's also very well curved (cue the pervy monkey face). I mean, they're ridiculously huge aren't they? Anyway, Chiho makes the list for being so darn funny and I love her.

06. Nico Niiyama

At #6 in the countdown is a newer girl in the industry, Nico Niiyama from Kiznaiver. It hurts my heart that her name is Nico (cause I absolutely hate Nico from Love Live!) but that didn't stop me from putting her on the list! I love Nico mainly because she is just so damn weird and I fucking love weirdos (in anime, not in real life). Nico rocks that good kinda weird that we all love. She has crazy highlights, has different high knee socks, does weird things, talks about shit that doesn't exist; everything she does is just super adorable. She's just a great character in general really; she makes me cry, laugh, smile, cry more (I cry a lot for her) and she's so tiny I just want to pick her up and put her on my shelf. I actually don't have a shelf but if I did, I would put her there. The point is, I LOVE Nico with a passion Which gets her to #6 on this list (If I love her that much imagine the next 5).

05. Kotoura

At #5 on the list is Kotoura from Koutora-San. Kotoura makes it at #5 because just as with Nico...I fucking lover her!!! Where do I even begin! I love her personality; she's very distant at first but immediately turns into a caring girl who wishes for life to get better. She can be pretty shy (which is adorable by the way) and her small stature is to die for (this small thing is gonna continue just so you know). She can be funny sometimes and I love how she can get so easily embarrassed. It makes me want to buy a plush or something (but I can't or my parents would disown me and I need somewhere to sleep). Most importantly, It touches my heart how much she's suffered. Poor thing has been through too much and I just want to hug her and heal her and be there for her!!! She's like a wounded puppy and then you take care of it but then you get too attached so you just decide to keep it! I kinda went off topic but the point is, I NEED TO HUG HER! These are all the reasons why Kotoura makes it on this list.

04. Papika

At #4 in the countdown is another new girl, Papika from Flip Flappers. Papika is on this list because she is a pretty rad character. She's energetic, optimistic, an airhead, and very loyal. There are plenty of girls in anime that sport these characteristics but Papika does it with this feel of genuineness. That's the best way I can explain it anyway. Even when things look bleak, Papika can still find a silver lining in the situation. She's also happens to be one of the few magical girls I like. I'm not a huge fan of the genre but Papika and the rest from this show are definitely an exception! She flies on a surfboard thing and shoots crazy energy blasts (none of that love attack bullshit). It looks like some Dragon Ball Z level shit which makes her pretty awesome! Plus Look at that crazy mess of a jungle she has going on her head. She looks like a feral child, but in a good way (If there's a good way). These reasons get Papika at #4 on the list.

03. Shizuku Mizutani

The next beautiful girl on the list is Shizuku Mizutani from My Little Monster. Mizutani makes it on the list for being a secretly cute character. When I was first watching the show, I didn't know what to expect from Shizuku but she turned out to be a great character. Before I knew it, I had fallen in love with her. I think what first grabbed me was the fact that she was socially inept! I myself  am socially awkward so seeing her act weird around people got me laughing. Then I saw her trying to interact with people and become more social and I couldn't help but smile! As I kept watching, I started to see cute things that she would do like jump to conclusions or make complicated thoughts and I found it all to be cute. She just came out as a real surprise because I really like her character a lot and her voice is so cute too! It's not that girly or super high pitched (I mean really. What's the deal with Japanese women having incredibly high vocal chords) but it's still cute. There are plenty of things that I like about Shizuku but these are some of those reasons.

02. Aoi Miyamori

The runner up on this list goes to Aoi Miyamori from Shirobako. Aoi makes this list for being another well done character. She's possibly my favorite character of the show and for good reason too (I mean look at that gif, HEART SQEEZE)! Aoi is a production assistant at an animation company and works very hard all the time. I mean if you've ever seen the show you know she works hard. She also drives like crazy and puts everybody's life on the line just for a parking spot (It's like watching Tokyo Drift). She's real hood!!! Jokes aside, Aoi cares a lot for the company that she works for and for her friends as well. She faces a lot of problems while working but always seems to find a way to solve the issue and make everyone happy. She's also very cute (like I have to even say though). God I love her hair! It's so fucking hot (I don't know why, I just like short hair). Her personality is very charming. Again, Positive, energetic, nice are all words that you can use to describe Aoi but I've said that too many times on this post. Anyway, Aoi is a great character and gets high on my list but who's number one!

01. Inami Mahiru

Yes, at #1 on my list and my favorite orange haired cutie in anime is Inami Mahiru from Working! Where shall I begin; Inami has a lot of good qualities about her. She is always thinking about others and makes sure to handle issues with the utmost care. She's very sweet (even if her actions don't reflect it) and she's always trying to improve. The even bigger reason why I love her so much is because she makes me laugh like crazy! She is a very funny character; she has this weird quirk where she hits men...constantly. She has androphobia (fear of men) so whenever she sees a man she winds up her fist and sends them straight to the moon (even if that wasn't her intention). Honestly, I die from her constantly knocking out guys out of nowhere and it never gets old! Add the fact that she is sensitive about her small breasts (plank status) and we have a definite winner. Like I said, No better way to a man's heart than through laughter. Inami's charm and quirkiness get the #1 spot in my list and If anyone has a differing opinion...fight me (actually don't, I have no experience whatsoever in combat, besides SSB).

I hope you guys enjoyed the post! If you did, consider following the blog or checking out my YouTube Channel, it helps me out a lot. I'm currently doing react series for Berserk 2017 and Sword Oratoria so if that interests you at all please check it out. A Review of Flip Flappers

I couldn't wait any longer! I have been urging to talk about this show so I will!!! Flip Flappers was my favorite show of the Fall 2016 season and for plenty of good reasons. This entire show is just a big slob of artistic genius! I'm not the biggest fan of magical girl shows buut this one has captivated my heart and was one of the biggest surprise of the year for me. I am GiraffePants and today I will be doing a review of Flip Flappers!

*NOTE* There will be spoilers

SYNOPSIS

Our story starts off with an average normal teenager by the name of Cocona. One day Cocona has a fateful encounter with an eccentric girl named Papika and asks her to join her and organization known as Flip Flip. Flip Flap is an organization focused on adventuring to the parallel world known as Pure Illusion and collect crystal fragments that will grant a wish if they're all collected. Cocona soon discover's that her childhood friend, Yayaka also seeks the fragments but for a rival organization bent on conquering the world. As Cocona and Papika collide with Yayaka, Cocona will learn more about Pure Illusion and the secret it holds.

STORY

This is a wonderful story about new and old friendships just with OP magical girls and a sick ass parallel world. Friendships are every important in this show, and the show chooses to focus on three relationships; The relationship between Cocona-Papika, Cocona-Yayaka, and (Major Spoiler) Soruto-Mimi. Each relationship goes on a set of twists and turns that challenge the relationship (This is prominent in the case of Cocona, Papika, and Yayaka). The show drives the fact that relationships are important for emotional support and overcoming challenges. For example, towards the end of the show, Cocona is forced to face her mother Mimi in her dark transformation but she can't do it alone! She needed the support and help from Papika in order to defeat Mimi and the best way for the pair to grow strong was by realizing how important their relationship with one another is. These relationships definitely have their downs but all the challenges the show's relationships go through are important to strengthening the bonds between characters. I absolutely love that this was the focus of the show! It adds a nice deep level for character development that pulls through nicely might I add. We see many characters go through stages of maturation and if there's something I love, it's development.

Although, overall I enjoyed the story, I had trouble following what was going on in the beginning. This is the only negative I had with this show. In the beginning they throw the viewer into the world of pure illusion and developments happen quite fast in the first episode. Because of this, you can feel a bit confused after the first episode. Then in the third episode, Cocona and Papika are in a completely different situation than where we left off and it can come off as chaotic! The show does this because it wants the cover the concept that pure illusion is a world with differentiating environments and that the world itself doesn't follow the exact same rules as earth but when Cocona is suddenly the bad guy in a apocalyptic wasteland and we don't know why, it can make us tune out. It took me some time to process what was going on and understand the situation. That isn't the last time it does something like this so I can see where people may be turned off at some point. Besides that, this story was great all around and I enjoyed it immensely.

CHARACTERS

As I've said, the focus of this show is on relationships and in order to illustrate that effectively, the characters have to be good and Flip Flappers does just that! The best characters of the show just happen to be Cocona, Papika, Yayaka, Soruto, and Mimi; The same set of characters whose relationships were focused on in the show. This isn't a coincidence. Each one of these characters shows a strong personality one way or another. Papika is care-free and generally happy while Cocona is cautious and shy. That isn't to say that this is how they are all the time; just like in real life people show a wide arrange of emotions aside from our most dominant common ones. For example, as the show progresses, Cocona learns to be more joyful as she continues to explore through Pure Illusion along with Papika.

I LOOOOOOOOOOVE the characters' design. The girls are very slender and nimble and have very large colorful eyes. Their designs are crafted to represent a sense of adventure, curiosity, and innocence. And then there's Cocona's and Papika's Flip Flap transformation! Oh My god, I can't begin to explain how much I love their magical girl design. Their clothes are tasteful; I think the revealing back design and lack of clothes covering their shoulders is awesome cause it makes them look fucking majestic! I especially love their legs; one being completely covered by a white stocking with a short boot and the other just being a long fading boot. Lastly, I love that their hair grows practically twice in size, and both the hair and eyes changes color! Take note magical girl shows cause this is good design!

MUSIC

The music for Flip Flappers is definitely enjoyable. I like both the OP and ED; Actually I love the OP and ED! The OP titled "Serendipity" by ZAQ is great to listen to. While listening, it pumps me up for the episode I'm about to see (Which is good since that is the OP's job). The ED "FLIP FLAP FLIP FLAP" by TO-MAS feat.Chima is also great. It's a very quiet song, with a simple rhythm and  some fantastic singing. That song gives me a great feeling; It's kinda like a satisfying feel you get after seeing a great movie. It also feels very "Alice in wonderland-ish." The music within the show is pretty damn good. There's a wide range of genres the show uses to portray whatever feel they're trying to go for. When things are intense or action packed, they'll use Electronic music that's very fast paced and complex or when there's a need for a sense of wonder, the show will use orchestra music or other more traditional music that's more moderately paced. That's just a small taste of the music Flip Flappers that you can expect.

ANIMATION

OH! OH! Where the hell do I even begin here! Flip Flappers has the best animation out of all the shows that aired in 2016! They definitely deserve it for the masterpiece they've given us. First thing! the design of Flip Flappers is amazing! The regular world is full of beautiful European architecture and Patchy green lands. Then there's the world of Pure Illusion. Pure illusion uses many environments that range from snowy wonderlands to Tron like metropolises! It's practically orgasmic to witness just how much thought they put into the world alone.

Another great thing about this show is the color. Color plays a huge role in the animation and storytelling of Flip Flappers. Whether you're in the outside world or in Pure Illusion, the show is always colorful (except for that scary school episode). The world they go into in the second episode is especially good and my favorite! Colors are very bright and sometimes play an important role in showing character feelings. In the second episode you can see that Cocona's and Papika's Hair and eyes change color according to how they feel. Don't believe me, check that episode again and you'll see it.

The world and color of Flip Flappers is great but the movement of the animation itself is what drives this show in. The fluidity of scenes and the unorthodox angles for those scenes makes a hard impact on the viewer's eyes and delivers unique story telling you wish you could get everyday. From epic fight scenes to more subtle moments, Flip Flappers is carefully calculated and animated to give you a work of art that can only be described as "Breathtaking."

FINAL VERDICT

Tchnical Score- 9 out of 10 (A)

If you can't tell, I think that Flip Flappers is beautifully constructed and the thought that went into this work has payed off well. Jaw dropping visuals and a fantasy story that explores relationships and the obstacles that come with relationships is what really makes this show great. Combine that with a fantastic cast of characters and well-composed music and you have one of the best shows of the year!

Personal Score- 8.6 out of 10 (B)

The reason why my personal score is lower is because I did have that initial confusion at the beginning. I wasn't able to process what was going on for a bit but If I watched this again I believe that this score wold be higher. In the end, I highly Recommend that people watch this show because it is a true piece of art that will astound your eyes and heart.

As always, I hope you guys enjoyed this post! I did my best to explain things out and show why I love Flip Flappers so much. If there's anything you guys want to comment, then feel free to write down below! If you like what I do, then consider checking out my YouTube Channel, GiraffePants Anime for more content and I'll hopefully see you all for another post! PEACE!!!

Best Animation of 2016

Animation comes in many styles and forms. From highly detailed and polished to sketchy and fluid, anime brings multiple dimensions of art straight to our eyeballs and the result is an EYEGASM. I don't know if other people use this term but all it means is that whatever you're looking at is so good or beautiful it gives your eyes an orgasm!

As you all see I want to talk about animation today! A while back I had seen Crunchyroll's Anime Awards on their site and I looked at who won best animation (not best anime, animation). I was not personally happy about which show won So I thought it would be great to talk about the shows that were in my opinion top quality when it comes to the animation of a show. I've added a poll that can be seen throughout my blog where you can vote for one of the eight shows I'm talking about today so I can see once and for all which show people think has the best animation. I'll write a paragraph about each show as if I was making the case why that show should win and you all get to decide after reading!

KEEP IN MIND:

  • Spoiler free! \*(^o^)*/
  • Vote at the end
  • Keep an open mind (Try to be as little biased as possible)
  • This is not for best anime, this is for the show with the best animation.
Let's get started!!!!!!!!!!

ERASED

From the winter season I present to you Erased by A-1 Pictures. I would describe the animation of Erased as polished and complex. Every shot you see, every color that's expressed has meaning throughout the show. The symbolism of the color red is impactful and adds a second layer of awe that few other shows can replicate. If you haven't noticed, the color red is used in the show for two purposes; moments of warmth and love and moments of danger. Don't believe me, watch the show again and watch out for it. The animation's polish gives Erased the crisp look we like to see but even better, the angles and art direction of the show give it's animation a new perspective that's rejuvenating. The scenes can be heartwarming and then suddenly turn drastic and intense. This show provides animation that is just jaw dropping! How can you not vote for this one!

KABANERI OF THE IRON FORTRESS

From the spring season, it is Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress by Studio Wit. There's only one phrase that can describe the are of this show; DAAAAAAAMN! I mean have you looked at this, there's so much detail and good motion that I'm having a heart attack just looking at it. The animation for Kabaneri knows how to set the mood when it comes to zombie butt-kicking action. Detailed death animations, explosions of blood pouring out of Kabaneri bodies is just a beautiful thing. Let's not forget the warriors kicking that butt! Characters are highly detailed and have a larger than life feel that you expect from Studio Wit. The landscapes are awesome too. green pastures mixed in with steampunk architecture is something we don't see too often but man does it look good! The animation of Kabaneri just screams epic and that is why there is no other show you should be voting for than Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress!

My Hero Academia

Spring brings the hit shonen show, My Hero Academia by Studio Bones. I would describe this show's animation as cartoonish and fluid. Studio Bones is great at creating this cartoonish look to anime that they're famous for such as in Soul Eater. The cartoonish nature of the show perfects the sense of adventure that we expect from this story. The animation is at its best when expressing extreme emotions like determination or desire. The animation is used in such a way that it enhances that emotion tenfold! the same could be said about action scenes. Action scenes are well drawn and flow very naturally. People may be turned off by anime that looks a bit cartoony but I say nay! We don't get to see anime like this often so I find it to be a fresh take from the traditional anime we see today. Stellar animation that enhances the feelings of characters and audience is the reason why My Hero Academia deserves to be the show with the best animation!

SPACE PATROL LULUCO

Last contestant coming out of the spring season is Space Patrol Luluco by Studio Trigger. Trigger always does amazing work and it's no different here either. Not many people have even seen this show since the episodes only run for 7-8 minutes but that doesn't make this show any less great! Honestly, thanks to the animation, I've gotten more excitement out of this short than many full length shows that I've seen this year. The animation is best described as being active and fun. When you watch Luluco, you can see that there aren't many times when the show is still; something always happening or changing. The animation is colorful and simpler than traditional anime giving it the lively feel that we enjoy. The animation is great at heightening the comedy and absurdities that Luluco is known for and which really makes the show unique. That's why Space Patrol Luluco is a cut above the rest and deserves the title of best animation.

MOB PSYCHO 100

From the creator of One Punch Man comes a new epic series with the best animation you could ever hope for. From Studio Bones, its Mob Psycho 100. There's only one way to describe Mob Psycho's animation; messy but refined. This purposely messy art style gives a flair we haven't seen in the anime industry for quite some time. The animation can seem lackluster and then suddenly jumps into a burst of detailed and fluid art that has you standing in complete awe. Hours of hard work go into an animation that looks messy but terrific at the same time. Animation  like this is innovative, refreshing, and above all completely awesome!!! The action scenes are the best you'll ever see and that's saying something! Psychic abilities, evil spirits, hand to hand combat is all demonstrated beautifully through the work of Studio Bones. The art-style of Mob Psycho is one of the best that I've seen this year and that is the reason everyone should vote for this show.

YURI ON ICE

From the fall season comes a story of figure skating like it's never been told before. I present to you all Yuri on Ice by Studio Mappa. I didn't think figure skating would ever be so attracting to me but after seeing the beautiful animation done by Studio Mappa, I was highly impressed. This show was definitely an underdog at the beginning of the season but now has become one of the most popular shows of the year. I think the main reason for this is because of the great skating animations that we get to see so often. You an describe Yuri's animation as breathing with life. Skating scenes take a life of their own thanks to fluid animation and great camera work. The camera moves as if you were skating with them inside the rink and the angles the camera takes is absolutely spectacular. Even when watching performances from afar, you feel like a spectator sitting in your seat watching the performance take place in front of your very eyes. Yuri on Ice's animation and approach to camera work make it the best animation of the year and should easily win this competition.

SHELTER

This next entry isn't a show at all but deserves great praise for what it has done; This is the song Shelter by Porter Robinson and A-1 Pictures. In the span of a couple minutes the animation of this music video had our eyes balling which other shows need an entire season to accomplish. The animation by A-1 Pictures is breathtaking to say the least. The sense of loneliness was perfectly created with the variety of open background scenery. Wide and vast fields, icy tundras, empty neighborhoods; all of it giving the feel that the video aspired to reach. Beautiful effects design give the video that professional touch that you expect from A-1 Pictures and adds an extra layer of depth that makes the video all the more enticing. Overall, it's just great animation doing its job; telling a story. Although this entry will get a lot of debate, I believe that there is no better choice than Shelter to be best animation.

FLIP FLAPPERS

From the fall season, the beautiful original Flip Flappers by Studio 3hz. This studio may not be all that well known yet but they made sure their voices were heard with this project. Flip Flappers is an extraordinary piece that can only be described as colorful and epic! To start off, I'm not even a huge fan of magical girl anime so it really has to take me away in order for me to watch it and Flip Flappers did just that. The reason I took a liking to the show was primarily for two reasons. The first reason is that the action animations are spectacular. I can genuinely call this a show full of Sakuga (over the top quality animation). The second reason being the the color palette and world creation is top notch. Every new world you see is well drawn and gives off the sense of adventure that this show is all about! The spontaneous color changes with scenery and characters is exciting and keeps you interested in whats going on. That's why Flip Flappers deserves to win best animation of the year for all the great things it does.

So everyone, what do you think? Which show deserves the crown of best animation? Tell me down in the comments below and if the show you thought had the best animation isn't here, then tell me the show i'm missing. Don't forget to vote at the poll for your favorite (or other if you completely disagree with everything I've said). Before you click out, consider checking out my YouTube Channel, GiraffePants Anime for more anime content! With all that said, I hope you all enjoyed reading and hope to see you here next post!
